"Juneuary"

I always thought the month of June was supposed to be the start of summer.  Now, we in the Northwest know that summer doesn't really start until after the Fourth of July, but we usually have some decent weather in June....not this year! June was coined "Juneuary", a month of cooler than normal temperatures and LOTS of rain, I think it may have been the wettest June on record. I don't know how I would be feeling if we hadn't had a week in Hawaii earlier in the year.  I am sure hoping that July treats us all better, however this first day of July is pretty depressing...more gray skies and rain.  Sigh.

A Rare Sunshiny Day!

There was one beautiful day in last month and we made sure to take advantage of it! The Portland Rose Festival is always in the beginning of June and is known to be a magnet for bad weather.  It was pretty nasty most of the week but it was gorgeous for the weekend, at least for one day.  We headed downtown to look at the Navy & Coast Guard ships that were docked for the week as well as walk through the festival and let Josiah go on a few rides.  Here are a few pics from our adventure:

I thought this pic was cool with the sailor in the background.
